Why compare website speed?
Comparing your site speed against a competitor gives you a concrete target rather than an abstract score. If your competitor loads in 1.8 seconds and your site takes 3.4 seconds, you know exactly how much headroom you need to close before the gap affects conversion rates and search rankings.
Google uses Core Web Vitals — LCP, INP, and CLS — as ranking signals. A side-by-side comparison shows which metrics each site passes or fails, so you can prioritise the fixes that will move the needle in organic search rather than chasing a higher PageSpeed number for its own sake.
Site speed comparisons are also useful for pitching clients, validating a redesign, or auditing a competitor before a migration. Loadzen runs both checks simultaneously using the same methodology, so the results are directly comparable.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I compare website speed between two sites?
- Enter both URLs into the form above and Loadzen will run a PageSpeed check on each simultaneously. You will see scores, Core Web Vitals, and key metrics side by side within seconds.
- What is a good PageSpeed score?
- Google considers scores of 90 and above good, 50–89 needs improvement, and below 50 poor. For e-commerce sites, scores above 70 on mobile are a realistic target once images and third-party scripts are optimised. The Core Web Vitals thresholds (LCP under 2.5s, INP under 200ms, CLS under 0.1) matter more than the composite score.
- Why are my mobile and desktop scores different?
- PageSpeed Insights simulates a mid-range Android device on a 4G connection for mobile tests, which is much slower than a desktop environment. Mobile scores are almost always lower. Google primarily uses mobile performance for ranking, so the mobile score is the one to focus on.
- Can I compare more than two sites?
- Each comparison runs two sites. To compare more, run separate comparisons — each gets its own shareable URL so you can review them side by side in separate browser tabs.
- How often does the comparison data update?
- Comparison results are cached for 24 hours. If you have recently made performance changes, wait at least a day and then run a fresh comparison to see updated scores.
